Misty Meadow Farm, located in Weyers Cave, Virginia, was established in 1974
by Robert Clements. Rob has a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Husbandry from
the Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture, and a Master's Degree
in Wildlife Management from Virginia Tech. The 112 acre farm is situated
about 15 miles West of Shenandoah National Park in the central Shenandoah
Valley of Virginia. The farm is composed of rolling hills and open meadows,
nestled between two ridges. The farm is a haven of tranquility in a natural
setting, along the banks of Naked Creek. In addition to our horse boarding
facilities, we bring you quality, naturally raised, antibiotic and
hormone-free Galloway Beef and Katahdin Lamb. Animals raised in a natural
environment and allowed to grow at their own pace, enjoy life as nature
intended, while producing meat that is healthier and leaner than that of
today's typical mass-production process.
Misty Meadow Farm also recognizes the importance of preserving rare and
endangered breeds of livestock. Many old livestock breeds have been discarded
by modern producers because they don't fit the optimum production model for
growth speed and carcass weight. As a result, some breeds have become
extinct, and others have reached critically low numbers. Once lost, these
important genetics can never be recovered. Misty Meadow Farm is dedicated
to the preservation of such species by raising rare breeds of livestock,
marketing the quality meats they provide, and improving the public's awareness.
Misty Meadow Farm offers several different options for those interested in Galloway cattle and their very unique meat quality and taste. We offer cut and packaged beef ready for sale, as well as live feeder cattle to raise and finish on your own land. You can have total control over your own beef supply, and make a fun family project out of the process. We also offer purebred miniature Galloway breeding stock in singles and pairs for those interested in developing and raising their own fine lines of Galloway cattle. Check out the various product pages offered on this site with more specific information about each aspect of Misty Meadow Farm.

Another organization that helps preserve our valuable agricultural heritage is the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. They are a nonprofit membership organization working to protect nearly 100 breeds of cattle, goats, horses, asses, sheep, swine and poultry from extinction.
